While I love the absurd humor of Wilfred and the dark suspense of Dexter, my all-time favorite show will always remain F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Why? Because the jokes never get old (I know from experience) and it can always make you laugh. Guaranteed.
The show first aired in 1994 and the series ran for 10 seasons with actors Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer. The show catapulted many of these big-name actors into stardom.
Friends depicts the lives of 6 friends as they experience early adulthood in Manhattan. While each character has their own defining personality trait (Chandler as the funny one, Rachel as the spoiled one, Ross as the nerd, etc.), creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman made sure that each character was well developed and lovable.
The shows pitch line reads, “The lives, loves, and laughs of six young friends living in Manhattan,” (Via IMBD) and that is exactly what each episode depicts. Often the show delves into some dark and serious situations but never without a bit of comic relief to ease the tension.
When I was in high school, my mom purchased the Friends Collector’s Edition box set of all 10 seasons. One by one she gave me a season for gifts over the span of a year. Honestly, it’s probably the one present I’ve gotten the most use out of in my life. Is that sad? Only if you haven’t seen the show.
It literally never gets old. I’ve made countless people hooked on the show. Watch it. If you don’t like it, then I don’t like you. (Sorry).
