Need some inspiration for your weekend in ATX? Here are some happenings that I fully endorse.
Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz is hosting a Michael Jackson sing-along tonight at 10pm! Judging by the Grease sing-along I went to at the Drafthouse, you are going to have fun. And this one is Michael Jackson, so it’s basically a guarantee.
Not in the mood for singing? Head over to Headhunters on Red River tonight at 11 to get a taste of the funky, blues rock of The Space Crazies. Listen to them blindfolded, and you’ll swear that powerful soul isn’t coming from three 20-year-old white kids.
The Highball is hosting a free 80’s Dance Party starting at 11:30. If you haven’t yet been to The Highball, it is a prohibition themed establishment with vintage bowling lanes, private karaoke rooms, a restaurant, a stage for great bands, and a full bar. Adding an 80’s dance party on top of all that awesomeness can only mean good things.
Geeks who Drink at Opal Divine’s (Marina) at 10pm. Finally you can claim you drink for a good reason – to participate in team pub quizzes.
All Acoustic Night at Frank with The Soldier Thread, The Shears, and Rebecca Butler and The Richards. Total shameless plug for my band, I know. But this is actually something worthwhile. Rumors are Soldier Thread shows are packed for a good reason, and it’s not often that all these female-led bands get together. All ages, doors open at 9.
There’s your weekend! Enjoy!
