Austin is finally cooling down, which must mean the rest of the United States did weeks ago.  It’s time to whip out those cold weather shoes, and if you have a shoe addiction like me…it’s time to go shopping! And I’ve found some wonderful places to start.

Aberdeen Oxford from Madewell

The Aberdeen Oxford

If you’re not ready to throw on boots quite yet, try picking up some Oxfords.  Basically they are a women’s version of mens shoes.  They’re incredibly versatile – wear with skinny jeans, skirts, shorts, trousers – and, not to mention, they’re really cute.  My favorite pair that I’ve found is from MadewellThe Aberdeen Oxford is made with Italian leather, a 1″ heel, and comes in four different colors (I’m a fan of brown Oxfords myself).  Also make sure to check out their Two-Tone Upstate Oxford.  Their multi-colored look brings something new and a little different to the table.

Dolce Vita Short Excursion Booties from Anthropologie

Short Excursion Booties

To ease into boot weather try starting with a heeled, ankle-height bootie.  They’re not as warm because your ankle is exposed so you’ll want to wear them earlier in the season.  Anthropologie has one of my favorite casual styles of the bootie. Their Short Excursion Booties by Dolce Vita are casual enough for everyday use and evoke a western-feel with their slightly pointed toe and their stitch detailing.  And of course I love the Betwixt Booties that I mentioned in an earlier post; my only concern, however, is keeping your feet warm with cut-out side.  Even with some cute socks and stocking options, I don’t think they’ll keep you warm through the winter.

Biker Ankle Boot from Zara

Biker Ankle Boot

When you’re ready to go all out and throw on some boots, try some motorcycle boots.  They make any outfit bad ass.  If you’re in Canada or up in the Northern states, maybe stick to intense weather boots – these are more for mild winters.  For a more affordable motorcycle boot option, I love the Biker Boot from Zara.  You can make them even more cozy by pairing them with some scrunched warm socks like these from Free People.
